The new
open tail rotor transmission was designed with high strength and low
weight in mind. An all open gearbox allows easy inspection of the gears
as well as simple assembly and maintenance.
The gearbox is an all new CNC aluminum design that's incredibly strong
yet very light. Larger bearings better support the heavy loads that
today's radical 3D maneuvers place on the entire tail rotor assembly.
The new transmission includes permanently lubricated, molded
transmission gears. These are easily installed
and are they ever tough.........

Now that your satisfied as to how
tough this new transmission is, here's a look at everything you
get with the open tail rotor transmission. These are shipped
fully assembled and ready to run using existing parts from your
helicopter.
The reduced friction actually improves tail rotor authority
because less power is lost to friction.
Available in an FAI version for the left
hand tail rotor on the Tempest FAI or a 3D version for the Tempest 3D or
Extreme models. Either can be easily converted. It will be standard
equipment in the Spectra-G. The transmission can also be adapted for use
with other models, contact the store for details.
Special Notes - the open transmission requires the use of a longer
tail rotor pushrod. If you are upgrading from existing t/r transmission
you will either need to extend the existing t/r push rod or order a new
one part # 0868-11.
If
you purchase the 3D unit (#123-75) and you are using the CNC pitch
slider, you must also purchase a #123-85 Bellcrank Support Arm for the
CNC slider to work with the 3D unit.
